A Street Photography Fail

x.jpg

Street photography can be broadly defined as an unscripted candid photograph taken in public spaces. So, my photo above definitely falls within that genre.

That was shot after we've finished the debrief for the art workshop we have conducted for street children. This couple was also in the area and was having a photoshoot. I'm thinking this is for their pre-nup or wedding photoshoot. When I saw them, I immediately turned on my camera and took a photo. I'm not really a pro at street so this is a so-so composition, etc.

I was on manual mode but I was using auto-focus cause the kitlens was mounted on my Fuji. However the AF zone was on the far left side of the photo and when I snapped a photo, instead of focusing on the people (it has face detection but they were on their sides), it focused on this lamp post!

Talk about an epic fail. When you zoom in on the couple, you'll see they were not sharp and out of focus. It would have been a cool photo if the camera focused on them. Lesson learned, check where the AF zone is, always.

Thanks for reading today's misadventure, lol. I will have to practice more street in order to be as good as Lukas Lao (a fellow Fujifilm photographer). Check out his Instagram: Click here.
