My 'Bronze Patina" Head Sculpture Magnet!
Hi Hive!
Heil Fuhrer! Just kidding. I've recently watched Jojo Rabbit and I loved it. However, this sculp wasn't the result of me watching that movie.
This is a test sculp I made using air dry clay. My colleague introduced me to his friend of his who has a boss setting up a miniature exhibit/display. His main attraction would be his vintage car model collection, whose owned by some prominent figures in history. You guessed it right, Adolf Hitler had cars and he had a model of it (it might be more than 1, I don't know yet).
So, I made this sculpture of Adolf's face as a sample work, because he's requesting a handful of bust sculptures to be made.
First photo above is the bare sculpture, just out of white airdry clay.
I did not use a primer on this one but I sprayed it right after with metallic silver acrylic spray paint can.
Then I've washed it over with a mixture of black acrylic, softened air dry clay (for a greyer, more matte look), and water (so the paint mixture is thinner).
However, I was feeling more energetic the following day that I decided to experiment on the paint job a bit more. I don't have the step-by-step recorded anymore so I'd just enumerate it below.
Above finished product was made by adding more blacks to the silver-faced Hitler and dry-brushing it with a misture of metallic copper, gold, and flat black acrylic paints. Afterwards, I decided to add a blue patina effect to it by mixing a but of white clay with blue and green acrylic paints: washed it over the sculpture and cleaned it up with wet foam.
I made the back of the sculpture flat and stuck 2 round magnets behind it so I can stick it to any metal surface. Anyway, I'm gonna send this over to the client so he can check it out in person. I also made a bust of Hitler which I'll be posting here soon.
