Some Lessons to Learn: Importance and Hard Work

"No one will grant your wishes. You must make them happen yourself!"

This is a drawing of mine that I have on my small Moleskine notebook that I use for my sketches and notes for a few years.

I lack lots of material things that time and this notebook of mine was one of my priced possessions. It was given to me as a gift. It was a reject though, so I had to re-attach and make a replacement cover for it out of paper. I had to put it to good use, it's worth more than 1,000php. My allowance back then was just 350php per week! Cause I was just a student.

As you can see, the edges of the drawing have been water-damaged. That happened recently. I was running late going to work so I had to ride a motorcycle (some places call it a bike man, we call it a habal-habal here) when all of a sudden heavy rain poured down.

We had to stop for a bit. I was already late and soaking wet. It's unfortunate the driver didn't have any raincoat with him. We had to move on though, so I ended up going to work wet to my underpants.

Upon opening my bag, I noticed my notebook was at the very front pocket so it got wet from all the rain. Had it been at the back or underneath my other things, like my jacket, it wouldn't have suffered any damages at all.

Almost all of the drawings in the notebook were made of water solluble medium like food color (yes), water color, and ink. I was startled when I saw my notebook and the first thing I did was placed it under a hand dryer, to no avail cause the ones we have doesn't heat up. I had to leave it open to let it dry. Eventually it did but not all my drawings were intact. It's a good thing most of them survived with blended colors on the sides like what you see above.

There are 2 lessons in this post. The first one is what the quote in the drawing says and the second one is from what happened to the drawing.

"No one will grant your wishes. You must make them happen yourself!". This is very true in most cases. Not everything will be given to you, so you really have to do things to make the most out of the things at your disposal. Wishful thinking doesn't always bear fruit but hard work does.

Keep the things most inportant to you near you but make sure to keeo them safe and sound. It doesn't matter if something is always in your bag or pocket. This repetitive habit can let you forget that it was even there and may get you to neglect this certain important matter. Make sure to take care of it and not lose it so you can definitely be able to showcase it tp the world.

Maraming Salamat!

Thank you so much!
