What is Steem Play?

Steem Play is a gallery of open sourced games designed to be housed in Steemit.com and other front-end websites running on the Steem Blockchain with the goal of using the blockchain (STEEM or SMT) to possibly reward gamers and developers in the future.

This initiative is still in the works and we're currently looking for active contributors to help us do the workings for it.

We just have the concept for it now. Here's the summary of the concept:

A game gallery of open source games that can be launched within a website with the use of browser extensions. On top of that, it will have a website of its own: https://steemplay.org.

The game gallery will have similarities to existing gaming websites like Miniclip.com. Steem Play will have the capacity to launch or hold pages for open source games for launching or downloading them.

All the codes will be Open-Sourced and will be housed in a Github repository for easy brainstorming and collaboration, as well as implementation of changes or improvements for it.

Possible reward systems:

• Developers should be able to seemlessly add new games into the gallery by creating a post in the blockchain through https://steemplay.org thus allowing their game to enjoy rewards by receiving upvotes from the Steem community. Posts will be synced into Github automatically adding their markdown codes into a certain folder in the repository.

• Anyone can contribute an open source game using a certain format, once approved it will be posted and added and can receive upvotes. Since these games are open source, these will be rewards for sharing the game to the world. contributors still need to adhere to licenses and conducts stated on the game source codes.

• Rewards for playing games, e.g: high scorers in leaderboards. Possibly additional rewards for contributing to this initiative.

We're taking this step by step though so we will focus in building a working website first. Then the extensions. Then we can focus on the possibility of incentivizing people who participate in the Steem Play initiative.

We need help with the following:

• Web Development

Overall web design creation and coding
Implementing the concepts into the website
Recommendations on how to host the website

• Graphics

Website UI/UX.
Steem Play logo and promotional banners to be used in official accounts, repositories, posts, and websites.

• Other Development:

Browser extensions to integrate Steemplay into websites like Steemit.com

• Overall Concept

Any suggestion to improve the overall concept of Steem Play is welcome.

This will be a big effort especially in the part of the developers. I challenge the devs of Steemit to help create this initiative. I have created a Discord server which you can join to collaborate with everyone.

This project is made to encourage participation in the Open Source Economy, especially from the Open Source Gaming Community. All contributions can be made through Utopian.io for possible rewards if moderators deem your contributions worthy.
